Mechanical Department Manager
Our client is a well-established engineering firm based in Edmonton that is dedicated to providing innovative and sustainable solutions to their customers. They are currently seeking a Mechanical Department Manager to provide leadership to their team of talented mechanical engineers.
Responsibilities:
- Using AutoCAD to mechanically design projects
- Research and analyze customer needs
- Specify system components or direct modification of designs to ensure compliance with engineering design and performance specifications
- Research, design, evaluate, and maintain mechanical design standards and systems to meet industry requirements
- Oversee installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical systems and equipment to ensure such mechanical systems and equipment are installed and functioning according to specifications
- Provide feedback to design engineers
- Estimate costs and submit bids for engineering, construction, or extraction products, and preparation of related contractual documents
- Oversee and complete invoicing of all mechanical projects
- Solicit new business and provide technical customer service
- Actively develop skills by attending relevant courses or programs related to the management of staff or the advancement of technical or related engineering skills
- Complete reviews of all employees in the Mechanical Engineering department on an annual basis
- Creation and implementation of methods of staff planning, staff or customer communication
- Supervision of workflow and supervision of the quality of work produced by the employees in the Mechanical Engineering Department
- Manage professional development of employees within the Mechanical Engineering Department
- Key participant in hiring and discipline of employees within the department
- Administration of profit sharing program as it relates to the department
- Lead work meetings for the Mechanical Engineering Department
Qualifications:
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Professional Engineer designation (P.Eng)
- High level of attention to detail
- Clear communication skills
- Ability to provide leadership to a team
