Senior Financial Reporting Specialist
Location: Calgary Alberta

Our client is currently seeking a Senior Financial Reporting Specialist for their Calgary-based team. Reporting to the Manager of Financial Reporting, this role will play a key role in guiding the activities of the financial reporting team within the organization.
Responsibilities
- Review and analyze the requirements of new and proposed IFRS as they are issued
- Lead the review, analysis and revision of IFRS accounting and reporting practices
- Investigate the differences between existing accounting practices and proposed IFRS changes
- Carefully consider the possible impacts of any decision before recommending the most favourable course of action
- Provide solutions to complex accounting and disclosure issues that arise
- Participate in the creation of monthly management reports
- Assist with the creation of quarterly and annual financial reports
- Act as a leader in developing solutions to accounting and disclosure issues
- Develop effective business relationships with coworkers and external stakeholders
Qualifications
- A professional accounting designation
- 5+ years of progressive experience in external financial reporting, technical accounting research and implementation of complex accounting standards
- A strong working knowledge of IFRS
- Experience in rate-regulated accounting for transmission of utilities
- Knowledge of public financial reporting requirements
- Clear communication skills, written and verbal
- Excellent analytical skills
- Experience in regulated utility accounting experience is an asset
- Experience using SAP is an asset
