Human Resources Manager (HR), Chemical Plant, Medicine Hat, Alberta

Location: Medicine Hat, AB

Salary: 115K+ and 15% bonus potential and benefits

Job Description:

FILLED  - If you'd like help recruiting your HR or leadership team in Alberta, please let us know!

Senior HR leadership opportunity with a global chemical company - in the comfort of a small, liveable city!

You are a senior Human Resources leader who has a track record of being an excellent resource to the organizations you work for.  You're counted on as the go-to on HR legislation, policy, and helping the people in your company succeed. You know what it takes sometimes to get down in the front lines and work directly with your employees.

Maybe you've thought to yourself, "Self, what if I could do all this but not have the cost and traffic hassles of a bigger city like Calgary?"  This opportunity may just be the answer.

We are currently working with one of our US partners to help their client find their next great HR leader.  They are a $4 billion chemical company, headquartered in Chicago with a significant plant operation in the Gas City - Medicine Hat, AB.  As the Human Resources Manager in this dynamic organization, you will lead your HR team to help staff and plant leadership succeed.

To do this, you can't be the kind of person who sits in the office and shuffles paper.  You need to be down on the plant floor, getting to know and talking to the 200-person staff.  It's a non-union environment, so that makes developing and maintaining the connection to staff that more important.

Because this is their only operation in Canada, head office will also be counting on you to understand and help to enforce local legislative standards including Employment Standards, OH&S Legislation and Privacy Legislation.

To be successful, you must have the following:

  • Significant (10 years+) experience as an HR Manager or HR Director
  • Your CHRP or equivalent designation
  • Strong experience working in a chemical, oil & gas or food plant in an HR capacity
  • A track record of developing strong tenure with companies, rather than moving from opportunity to opportunity

This is an outstanding HR leadership opportunity with a great company.  What would you have to give up?  Maybe a long commute and an obscene mortgage cost?  What do you get in return?  The opportunity to help shape the local operations of a global country and to live in a small city with a cost of living about 35% lower than Calgary.
